December! Making a Christmas gift to your best friends!

Christmas cross stitch - cats

I can’t believe it’s December! Where did November go for goodness sake? It seems as we get older, the time just zips on by. Also, this means that Christmas is coming! And this is the 5th year I enjoy the Christmas in the summer, the Santa is wearing T-shirt, quiet amazing, yeah?

I haven’t start any project at the moment, how lazy I am! Since the summer holiday is coming, and I think it will be a good time to start projects related to the coming Christmas, we could make some cute cross stitch Christmas tree ornaments to decorate the tree and gifts to our best friends.

I started to cross-stitching 5 years ago, and I really love the activity, I love the process of doing my projects, I love the products I have done and feel extremely proud when seeing my works. :)

Cross-stitch is the oldest form of embroidery and can be found all over the world. Many folk museums show examples of clothing decorated with cross-stitch, especially from continental Europe and Asia.
Cross-stitch has been found in needlework pieces as early as the 6th or 7th century.
It has been used as a basic decorative stitch all over the world, especially in Europe, Asia, and the Americas. Different folk cultures have developed their own pattern and color traditions and they are passed on from mother to child.
Cross-stitch has been used for tapestries, wall hangings, decorative window coverings, upholstery, and for folk costumes.

Cross-stitch is a popular form of counted-thread embroidery in which X-shaped stitches in a tiled, raster-like pattern are used to form a picture. Cross-stitch is often executed on easily countable evenweave fabric called aida cloth. The stitcher counts the threads in each direction so that the stitches are of uniform size and appearance. This form of cross-stitch is also called counted cross-stitch in order to distinguish it from other forms of cross-stitch. Sometimes cross-stitch is done on designs printed on the fabric (stamped cross-stitch); the stitcher simply stitches over the printed pattern.
Nowadays, cross-stitch is a great hobby for people as it is a relaxing, creative and enjoyable pastime.The projects you complete, whether from a kit or your own designs, will make great decorative items for the home and wonderful presents for friends and family.
